Erythrophobia and How to Handle it
People who have a propensity for blushing are not bothered by it at first. They are aware that they blush easily, but are not bothered by this. It does not have any major impact on their lives. They just think of it as a passing phase and so continue with their lives in the normal way.
However, when the blushing does not stop quickly, especially if it seems to become worse, it can become a strong fear that makes your life hell for some time. The most annoying thing may actually be that other people cannot see it.
Like any other phobia, a blushing problem starts off harmlessly enough but becomes worse as time progresses. It distinctly occurs in two stages - the first stage of blushing easily every now and again, and the excessive blushing that comes when your self-consciousness increases.
Erythrophobia can hurt you physically as well as mentally. It can become so bad that you might spend all your time worrying about it. In fact, the more you worry, the more you will blush.
If you blush easily, it may happen only a few times a week but Erythrophobia can happen many times a day. Actually, blushing easily may only be slight blushing but excessive blushing is often extreme and will mentally burn you up.
This may sound very worrying and can cause some people to go into a blind panic, but help is close by. You can in fact learn to take control over your blushing as time passes. You can resist it, so to speak, as well as decrease the severity of your blushing as well.
Once you begin to handle the problem of Erythrophobia then it becomes easier over time, but actually starting to deal with the problem is most difficult for any individual. Any negativity will be used to talk yourself out of it and you may become overwhelmed by self-pity. This is not helped by the fact that very few people understand the phobia, unless they suffer from it themselves of course.
However, if you continue to struggle against the problem of excessive blushing, you will soon discover that it becomes easier as time passes. Your progress will persuade you to carry on with your self-help. One small ray of hope is all it takes for you to discover that it becomes much easier to handle your blushing problem. You can even start living a normal life again.
